Marbella is, without doubt, the most important tourist town on the Costa del Sol, thanks to the quality of its infrastructure and the services it offers. For golf lovers it is a paradise housing numerous courses with wonderful features where golf can be played with the sea and mountains as a spectacular backdrop.
In Marbella the international and the local fuse to offer the visitor a unique town with a climate unmatched in Spain. The historical Old Town hides beautiful corners of typically Andalusian flavour. Our town is also the perfect place to sample the succulent culinary delights of international and local gastronomy, with various Michelin starred restaurants such as the famous "Calima" restaurant featuring the renowned chef, Dani Garcia, "El Lago", and others.
Puerto Banús, one of the principal tourist attractions of the town, houses an exclusive leisure area within the excellent installations of the nautical port. It is one of the most emblematic places in Marbella and our country's most well known sporting harbour. Surrounded by luxury urbanisations, some of the world's largest and most luxurious yachts are regularly found moored in Puerto Banús. The port also offers a select leisure area comprising restaurants and boutiques from some of the principal international fashion houses and luxury brands.
From Cabopino to Guadalmina, Marbella offers visitors 26 kilometres of coastline with sun drenched beaches with all kinds of amenities. The beaches of San Pedro Alcántara, only ten minutes from La Quinta are an excellent example of the harmony that exists between nature and the development of tourism.
Lovers of sport and nature will find a true paradise in Benahavís, a gastronomic enclave on the Costa del Sol and one of the municipalities on the Costa del Sol with the most developed golf infrastructure. One can play golf of the highest level throughout the year in settings of stunning natural beauty. This typical mountain village, which has so much to offer the visitor, is less than fifteen minutes from La Quinta.
Those who prefer nautical sports have three harbours from which to practise their preferred watersport.
Additionally, Marbella is also home to several equestrian centres, tennis clubs and other installations catering for the most diverse interests. All of this, without forgetting the incredible possibilities that the Sierra Blanca mountain range offers for outdoor pursuits.
We should also draw attention to the Feria and Fiestas of San Bernabé which is celebrated during the first fortnight of June. The celebrations include concerts, bullfights and other activities.
Easter week and the San Pedro de Alcántara fair, which takes place in October are other prominent dates on the Marbella calendar.
Marbella is an excellent base from which to visit the rest of the Cost del Sol. Only few kilometres away are Mijas, Casares, Frigiliana, etc., typical andalusian white villages. Incredible natural landscapes await in the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park, very close to Marbella, such as Istán, famous for its natural springs, and Ojén, an ecologically rich area.
And the rest of Andalusia should not be forgotten. At two and a half hours or less drive: La Alhambra in Granada, Sierra Nevada, the Cordoba Mosque, the Seville Cathedral, the olive groves of Jaén and many more awaiting discovery close to La Quinta Golf & Spa Resort.
For thousands of Europeans Marbella has changed from a holiday destination to become their primary residence for much of the year. Residential tourism has achieved an almost unimaginable dimension thanks to the ample educational and medical institutions. Marbella houses prestigious national and international schools such as Swans School, Aloha College, Alborán, Laude International, the Juan Hoffman German School, Ecos, the Swedish School, etc., as well as top quality medical facilities such as USP Marbella, the Costa del Sol Hospital, the Ochoa Clinic, Marbella High Care, etc.. If, on top of the tourist infrastructure, we add these educational and medical services which are of the same standard of any other major European city, as well as the finest communication networks under continual development, Marbella can lay claim to being the premier tourist brand in the country. Welcome to paradise.
