1. Frigiliana
Frigiliana is on the list of "Spain's most beautiful villages", and the title needs no justification. You only have to stroll through the steep cobbled streets of its historic quarter to see that it is a picturesque town with whitewashed houses, wrought-iron balconies, and sunny courtyards full of plants and flowers—the quintessential Mediterranean scene.
2. Nerja Cave
The town of Nerja is not only beautiful on the outside but also on the inside. Its famous cave, one of the most developed in Andalusia, was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2006. The great geological variety of this cave is of international importance. It is the fourth most visited natural monument in Spain.
3. The Artola Dunes
At the foot of Sierra Blanca, in the bay of Marbella, an impressive dune landscape shaped by the wind and sea opens up. The Artola dunes, a Natural Monument of Costa del Sol, can be explored from the interior along a circular hiking route of about 3 km. The route runs between the sea and pine forests and offers a different landscape each season of the year.
4. Roman Theatre of Málaga
The Roman Theatre of Malaga is one of the living symbols of Roman Hispania in the city. In this facility, you can enjoy a modern interpretation centre which explains the life and customs of the period through new technology. It has also been restored to its original use, with an exciting range of shows on offer inside.
5. Marbella and Puerto Banús
The two most glamorous summer resorts on the Mediterranean coast could not be excluded from this list. Marbella and Puerto Banús are icons of luxury tourism. The exclusivity of the beach clubs and restaurants on their respective promenades contrasts with their more traditional side in popular spots such as Alameda Park or Plaza de Los Naranjos.
